Microsoft AI-901: Simply Certified Study Guide

About the Simply Certified series

Simply Certified is a study guide series for working professionals who need to certify efficiently. Every title is built around the certifying body's published exam objectives, written in clear professional English, and edited to the depth the exam actually requires. Nothing is included to make the book look bigger.

The series is published by Aced It Publications to a single editorial standard. Each chapter maps to the official objectives. Technical specifics are verified against source documentation. Practice questions are grouped by domain and include an explanation for every answer choice. The aim is a guide you can read end to end and take into the exam room with confidence.

About this book

The Microsoft AI-901 is the current Azure AI Fundamentals exam, replacing the retiring AI-900. It covers two skill areas: identifying AI concepts and capabilities, and implementing AI solutions using Microsoft Foundry. The exam reflects the move to a portal-and-SDK workflow centred on Foundry, generative AI agents, Azure Content Understanding, and multimodal models.

This guide is written from the ground up for the current AI-901 objectives, not adapted from older AI-900 material. Each chapter maps to a published skill, walks through the Foundry portal screens candidates will see on the day, and explains the underlying concepts before the implementation steps. The practice question bank is grouped by skill area and includes an explanation for every answer choice.

Who it is for

This book is written for business stakeholders, project leads, and IT professionals approaching Azure AI for the first time, as well as students sitting their first Microsoft fundamentals exam. It assumes general computer literacy but no programming background or prior Azure experience. Readers moving from AI-900 study materials will find a migration appendix outlining what changed and what to add.
