My 75 Year Old Life in Sicily : Selected Essays and Illustrated Photographs

What happens when a Sicilian-American kid from the tough streets of Lawrence, Massachusetts returns to the island of his ancestors ?

You get a life filled with joy, chaos, memory, food, and the kind of laughter only Sicily can deliver.

My 75-Year-Old Sicilian Life is a heartfelt and humorous collection of stories from Alfred M. Zappala—attorney, professor, author, and co-founder of You, Me & Sicily .

With warmth, honesty, and comedic timing sharpened over a lifetime, Alfred invites readers into a Sicily that tourists never see: a place where the past is never really gone, neighbors feel like family, and every lemon tree whispers a story.

Through twenty-eight beautifully written essays, you’ll travel from Lawrence Ma. to Aci Catena, from childhood memories of kerosene stoves and piecemeal factory workers to present-day mornings overlooking the Ionian Sea.

You’ll meet legendary characters: Zina, Alfio, Sonny, and the unforgettable Radio Men and rediscover what truly matters: gratitude, roots, resilience, and love.
