b0b8xpbd49
Northern Belize: Birds and Wildlife and History (Birding Travelogues)

Belize, a small Caribbean country in Central America, bordered by Mexico and Guatemala. Its British colonial legacy means that the language is English and there is a certain comforting familiarity in the way of life. However it is tropical, hot and there are great birds to see...some 615 species as per the last count. So, Belize is a good option for a birding vacation in Central America.
We spent 10 days there back in 2008-perhaps not the best time for a holiday in the tropics, but needs must. We stayed in a jungle lodge and in a more open-country place surrounded by water, all in the northern half of Belize. We found birds, the bugs found us and we had a close encounter of the feline kind. We also got to visit a couple of Maya sites, and partake of a bit of history. All-in-all, it was a pretty successful trip.
Fully illustrated with our own photographs, maps and drawings.
